Having car insurance in Spain (like in the UK) is obligatory by Spanish law. Car insurance in Spain comes in many sizes, you can get insurance for a car whether it’s brand new or you’ve had it for 20 years. Some insurance policies also cover third party fire as well as theft – although this can be rather expensive depending on your car. Theft of cars (especially luxury cars) in Spain has been on the increase in recent years, meaning that this is becoming an ever more contracted policy.
